Recognition of the need to establish an appropriate liaison model for the fishing and petroleum sectors in Newfoundland and Labrador, led to the inception of One Ocean in May 2002. The organization, One Ocean, promotes enhanced communication and information exchange as a fundamental component to developing a cooperative working relationship between the fishing and petroleum sectors within the Canada-Newfoundland Offshore Petroleum Board’s marine jurisdiction; encompassing 1,825,992 km2.
